In lieu of our annual one day ski race at Trollhagen this February. For the whole month of February, please record how many
miles you cross country ski. This event is open to all ages and experience levels. Send your miles to District Two Sports Director: Laurie Berg.
Be sure to include your full name, age, and the lodge that you are a member of. The cut-off date for submitting miles is March 16th. Once all miles have been submitted, they will be tallied, and Laurie Berg will announce the awards. Results will be printed in the Dynamic 2.
Miles can be tracked for all skiing, not just miles done at Trollhaugen.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created so many disruptions and hardships, all around the world, but it can’t prevent the Ski for Light community from connecting via technology. Join the Ski for Light team on January 27 – 30, 2021, for their first-ever virtual event! From Wednesday through Saturday, they will gather via the Zoom platform to enjoy many of the activities we’d normally experience in-person, promoting fitness and friendships, plus a few fun surprises-all while safely at home. The Executive Board, Board of Directors, and Supporting officers for the Edmonds Lodge 2021 were installed at our last member meeting on January 13th, 2021. We are excited to have a few new members join the Executive Board and thankful for all those who are continuing on in their role with our lodge. A few highlights:
Norma Jean will continue in her role as President.
Jane Bueing has accepted the role of Vice President, after having serve as Secretary for many years.
Shirley Lovelace has been a Director and Supporting Officer an has now accepted the role of Secretary.
Phil Kollen is new to the Board and will be the Lodge Treasurer.
Norma Jean made a wonderful speech during our last Member meeting, thanking Sandra Ferchen (former Vice President) and Vicki Nelson (former Treasurer) for the many years of service on the Executive Board. The giving of their time and talent to our Lodge has been so important to the success of our lodge both past and into the future.
The Edmonds Board has been meeting monthly by Zoom and we decided at today’s meeting that we should try Lodge meetings by Zoom! Our First will be the regular date and start time in September = Sept. 9 at 4:30. We will start with a one-hour meeting featuring mostly a program or speaker.

Over the last few weekends, the Edmonds Sons of Norway’s Viking ship was restored as a part of Xander Siqveland’s Eagle Scout project. Members of the lodge assisted in the project along with Scouts and adults from Troop 166. In all, crews worked over three days to reach the goals set forth in Xander’s proposal.
The Viking ship Thor is an absolute favorite of both the Edmonds Fourth of July parade, as well as the Syttende Mai parade in Seattle. Unfortunately, time and the elements had made Thor virtually unusable. Xander’s project was the perfect solution to this problem.
The work parties began by transferring the ship from its old trailer to the new one. This required a lot of heavy lifting and creative engineering. Once the ship was fitted to the new trailer all the rotten wood was replaced. Finally, the ship was sanded and painted with varnish.
Additional restoration will be required to make Thor float ready. Volunteers will be needed as more work parties occur in the future. In addition, the question remains where the lodge’s ship will be stored. Kris Johansson has graciously stored Thor in his front yard for a long time and must be thanked for his generosity. Now the Edmonds Sons of Norway lodge must find a new home for Thor.
